Manager of Water Quality Services

You will contribute to the City’s sound stewardship of its precious water resources and ensure Calgary’s environment is protected for current and future generations.

Thanks to The City’s long-term strategies and the dedicated team of professionals behind them, Calgary’s water quality ranks among the very best in the world. As Manager of Water Quality Services, you will offer leadership to a group of 70 scientists, engineers and support professionals who monitor, analyze and treat the city’s drinking water, wastewater and storm water drainage. You will oversee The City’s laboratory and compliance monitoring capabilities to the highest international standards and foster the development of new technologies, analytical methodologies and instrumentation. You will manage the City’s bylaw compliance efforts related to industrial, commercial and institutional dischargers. You will have the opportunity to work with the University of Calgary on applied research and development projects. You will add insight to the planning process and contribute business acumen to the operations of Water Resources. You will encourage innovation - especially around environmental and conservation initiatives.

In addition to a Graduate Degree in a related discipline, such as environmental engineering or environmental chemistry, you have at least ten years of experience in technical and managerial positions, preferably in a municipal environment. You are adept at budgeting, have effective people and project management skills.
